About Celtic Country Wines
Humble beginnings
In 1985, the company began its life deep within the heart of rural Wales, in the county of Dyfed now called Ceredigion. The founder of the business Where to Buywas an experienced and well travelled visionary by the name of Neal Shipp seeking a spot to settle with his wife and two children, soon to become three. The spot he chose was within a small village called Penrhiwllan, not far from the market town of Newcastle Emlyn, there he invested in a small holding where his life long hobby of brewing home made wine became his livelihood.
Without any money to invest, the business began on a very small scale, with only the most basic equipment, Neal and his wife June had to work long hours to produce enough wine and liqueur to sell. The weekends were spent travelling across Wales and England to all sorts of markets, fairs and festivals trying to earn a profit and continue growing.
The situation today
The business today has grown distinctively, the winery has been moved to a larger unit a few miles from the family home in a place called Beulah. The company has been able to make several investments on new machinery and with it a larger work force including the two eldest sons Richard and Darren who have now come of age. The business has also been developing new products and are now producing a full range of Liqueurs and preserves that are flavoured by the wine and liqueurs. Continuing with the enhancing of types of products the business is currently developing a new range of wine vinegars.
Now that the business has reached it’s 25th year the family has decided to celebrate with a complete re-brand, improving the look of the business and products to match the high quality produce inside, the products are now taking on the new brand name of “Celteg”.
